Open GApps is the recommended choice for most users today because of its active development history and the wide range of package variants it offers (explained in the next section). The project officially supported Android 5.1 Lollipop up until 2019. Since then, active development has ceased for Lollipop, but the final packages from around 2019–2022 are stable, secure, and represent the last "modern" version of GApps available for Android 5.1.
