I host a Shell Challenge each month from my discord and Twitch channels. I need to be better about promoting them, however, so that’s what this section is for. Every first or second Wednesday of the month is tour night, and I tour everyone’s submissions on this night. If you cannot attend (or don’t get done in time for the deadline), I am more than happy to tour any completed shell challenge for free at any time you are able to stop by a sims stream on my Twitch channel.
That being said, this section is also all about having a record of all the shell challenges I’ve done in the past. I have, from very early on, always tried to make each of my shell challenges be a bit of a brain-teaser. Something that will make you think. Either with a theme, or a puzzle/problem, or coming up with a story in your head to match your build. I am perpetually coming up with new ideas, so don’t expect these challenges to stop anytime soon – I have at least through 2024 and most of 2025 already either planned, or the ideas sketched out. In some cases, they’re already even built and ready to go except for their promo graphics.

Introduced for 4G modems and newer smartphones starting in 2015. These require specific tools that handle MD5 hashing based on the device's 2. Primary Tools and Downloading
⚠️ : Some download links may be shortened (e.g., adf.ly). Exercise caution with any site requiring personal information beyond what's necessary for the device unlocking process.
Direct download links for user-friendly V4/V5 calculators are extremely hard to find in 2026. This is because Huawei has continuously updated its security.
Check the screen text to ensure your remaining attempts counter is not at 0 .
Every cellular device has a unique 15-digit International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. You must locate this number before attempting to calculate an unlock code.
Used on modern 4G LTE devices. They require the IMEI and specific firmware hash data.
Professional unlocking software with support for V4 and V5 algorithms. It automatically detects available COM ports and accepts the AT^NVRDEX command.
Since a standard V4/V5 "calculator" is not readily available, here are the common alternatives used today:
Download and install both of the following:
Launch a web browser and navigate to the gateway IP address (usually 192.168.8.1 or 192.168.1.1 ).
In the V4 generation, the "Bootloader" remained largely unprotected, allowing for the execution of unsigned code or the reading of secure partitions to retrieve unlock codes directly if the algorithm was unknown.
Huawei has updated its security algorithms over several generations to secure network locks on mobile broadband devices:
The unlock code calculator works with a wide range of Huawei 3G and 4G/LTE devices. Below is a list of confirmed working models from user reports and technical forums.
At its core, the calculator's algorithm is based on the IMEI with an MD5 hash and a table. The calculation was extracted from router firmware and reconstructed using reverse engineering tools like Ghidra 9.2.
